Chilled Chat

There is a relaxed start to a Chilled Church service with tea, coffee, juice and a selection of chocolate biscuits. During the service we have another break for a chat and a bite to eat - with something that fits in with the theme, e.g. percy pig cakes when the story was the prodigal son, fish fingers & chips for the calling of Peter, Honey Joys and crickets (we couldn't find locusts) for John the Baptist.

Taskmaster Challenge

Each Chilled Church has a different Taskmaster Challenge to fit in with the theme of the service.

The Taskmaster Challenges are fun activities that can be completed by teams sitting round tables. Example activities we've used so far include:

  • Make a boat from paper and sellotape that can withstand a storm (in a paddling pool)
  • Make a water tower from sticks and paper cup - The Woman at the Well
  • Throw the Word of God (wee bits of paper with bible verses) onto Good Soil avoiding, the Path, Stony Ground and the Thorn Bushes
  • Find the Lost Sheep - jigsaw pieces dispersed on different tables
  • Bandage a team member in toilet paper - Parable of the Good Samaritan
  • Make the longest paper chain - Paul & Silas in jail
  • Blindfold Follow the Leader - Calling of the first disciples

Activities, great worship, bible centred teaching

Chilled Church is designed to be friendly relaxing and fun.

We do, however, still focus on God with a bible-based theme running through each week.

IT’S CHURCH (BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT!)

Imagine a church that is relaxed and fun to attend, whatever your age.

Imagine a church with a coffee break half-way through.

Imagine a church that is especially focused on young people and families.

Imagine a church that you feel comfortable to go to, even though you’ve never been to church before.

Imagine a church with optional Taskmaster activities.

Imagine a church where the bible and Jesus’ teachings are shared, but in a totally different way to what you expected.

This is Chilled Church, a radical new approach to church in Burntisland and Kinghorn, which launched in February 2022. Services are held every third Sunday at 11am, rotating between Kinghorn, Erskine and Burntisland Parish Church, and delivered by members of the three congregations. Details of upcoming services are listed on this page, and posted on the Chilled Church FaceBook page  If you’re looking for an informal, fun and engaging style of church service, that is still centred on Jesus, why not come along? You may be surprised just how much you enjoy it!
